The 24th LA Film Festival, taking place September 20-28, has announced their fall lineup that is made up of 42% female directors and 39% directed by people of color. LA Film Festival Director, Jennifer Cochis, described the mission of the LA Film Festival in an official statement: “Our mission of finding fresh new voices from different geographical and cultural axes remains true. These storytellers are united by their ability to transport, impact and inspire audiences with the power of their craft.” This year’s event has 40 feature films, 41 short films, and 10 episodic projects among 26 different countries. The festival places feature films in the categories of Documentary, U.S. Fiction, World Fiction, LA Muse (“fiction and documentary films that capture the spirit of Los Angeles”), and Nightfall (“films to watch after dark”).
