Khandi Alexander (The Wire, Scandal, Bessie) has joined the CBS Films and Lionsgate production Patriots Day starring Mark Wahlberg.

Alexander is set to play a law enforcement interrogator.

Patriots Day is about the Boston Marathon bombing and also includes Melissa Benoist, Kerry Russel, John Goodman, J.K. Simmons, Michelle Monaghan, Kevin Bacon, Jimmy O. Yang, Vincent Curatola, Alex Wolff, James Colby and Rachel Brosnahan in its cast.

Alexander has starred on hit shows such as Treme, The Wire, Scandal, and was most recently seen in the HBO film Bessie directed by Dee Rees.

The film is directed by Peter Berg and produced by Scott Stuber, Mark Wahlberg, Hutch Parker, Dylan Clark, Stephen Levinson, Dorothy Aufiero and Michael Radutzky.

Patriots Day is currently in production and set to open Dec. 21 in Boston, Los Angeles and New York just in time for the Oscars race.
