Deadline reports that Jurnee Smollett-Bell is set to star in an independent film titled One Last Thing alongside Wendell Pierce.  One Last Thing will be the directorial debut for Tim Rouhana and follows a lonely Florida dentist (Pierce) whose days are filled by work and his solo daily golf game. When he is confronted by a figure from the past bringing news that he has an adult daughter (Smollett-Bell) living in Brooklyn, he begins an eventful journey outside of his comfort zone.

“As an artist, you want to stretch. That’s the only way you’re going to grow. If I stay inside my comfort zone, do roles that I’ve done before, then I’m never going to get better as an actress.” – Jurnee Smollett-Bell

Smollett-Bell began her acting career over 20 years ago starring on hit shows from the 90’s such as Hangin’ with Mr. Cooper, Full House, and Martin.  A decade later she starred in the critically acclaimed Eve’s Bayou and went on to star in The Great Debaters alongside Nate Parker and Denzel Washington.  Smollett-Bell has appeared on shows such as Friday Night Lights, True Blood, and Parenthood, and is currently starring on the hit WGN America drama series Underground, created by Misha Green.

Production for One Last Thing begins later this month.
