Daily Show breakout star, Jessica Williams is set to star in a new film directed by Jim Strouse.  William was cast alongside co-star Chris O’Dowd, Lakeith Stanfield (Straight Outta Compton, Atlanta) and Noël Wells (Master of None).  This project will mark a reunion for Strouse and Willimas as they worked together in 2015 on a film called People Places Things.

Williams will play Jessica, an aspiring playwright who is recovering from a recent breakup and meets the newly divorced Boone (O’Dowd). The two figure out a way to make it through the tough times — and, in the meantime, realize they like each other. Stanfield will play Jessica’s ex-beau and Wells will play her best friend.

The film is currently shooting in New York City, and is produced by Michael B. Clark and Alex Turtletaub of Beachside. Williams will also serve as an executive producer.

Williams left The Daily Show earlier this year, after four years of being on the show, to work on a scripted project of her own for Comedy Central alongside Naomi Ekperigin.  In addition to her upcoming scripted project, she has a podcast titled 2 Dope Queens, which she produces with fellow comedienne Phoebe Robinson and showcases LGBT comics and comedians of color.
