Good news for Jennifer Beals, as she has a booked a recurring role on Amazon’s drama series, The Last Tycoon, opposite Matt Bomer, Kelsey Grammer, Lily Collins, and Rosemarie DeWitt.
The Last Tycoon is based on F. Scott Fitzgerald’s novel of the same name and is inspired by the life of film mogul Irving Thalberg, on whom the book’s protagonist Monroe Stahr was based. The series is written and directed by Billy Ray and produced by Sony TV’s TriStar Television.
The drama follows Stahr (Bomer), Hollywood’s first wunderkind studio executive in the 1930s as he climbs to the height of power, pitting him against his mentor and current head of the studio, Pat Brady (Grammer), whom is based on Louis B. Mayer.
Beals will portay Margo Taft, a Hollywood royalty star from the school of hard knocks and a dignified schemer who often gets her way on set.
Beals will also star in Taken, NBC’s straight-to-series adaptation of the famous movie franchise, and the series is set to premiere on February 27. Her most recent film, Before I Fall, will premiere at the Sundance Film Festival this month before it hits theatres in March. Additionally, she’ll be reigniting her dance roots and joining Kenny Ortega and James Larosa to executive producer the upcoming Fox dance drama, The Edge.
