HBO recently dropped their “Lit Summer Promo” for Issa Rae’s Peabody Award-winning show Insecure, and it looks we have some summer craziness in store.

In the first official trailer for the upcoming third season, we see Rae partying with the girls, spending a little quality time with #bae (Y’lan Noelle), and struggling through an encounter with a white coworker.

Rae recently spoke to The Hollywood Reporter spoke about the show’s third season and how she wants to handle current issues within the Black community.

“I don’t want to give anything away!” Rae said. “But I love Black masculinity as it relates to Black women. I think that’s something interesting that we haven’t gotten a chance to explore yet — and specifically toxic male Black masculinity as it relates to Black women. I’m trying to find a way to explore that and get a rounded storyline that isn’t preachy.”

Rae hasn’t forgotten about her characters, and the importance of planning involved storylines where viewers can watch them develop as people.

“This season is about adulting in a new way. I think we’ve watched our characters really fumble and fuck up — and in some ways in your 20s you are allowed that — but this season is about not acting like you’re naive anymore or that you don’t know better. So it is about, what does it look like to know better and to do better?”

No one knows exactly what’s Rae has planned, but this season is shaping up to be must-see TV. Check out the Season three trailer above.

The countdown to August 12 is officially in effect.
