Golden Globe-Nominated Issa Rae (Insecure) will join fellow directors, Andrea Arnold, Robert Eggers, Barry Jenkins, Travis Knight, Pablo Larraín, and Denis Villneuve at the 16th Annual Film Independent Director’s Close-Up!

The “Close-Up” series will be featured on Wednesday nights: February 1, 8, 15, 22, and March 1 at The Landmark in Los Angeles, and filmmakers, film lovers etc will be treated to firsthand accounts from esteemed writers and directors whose originality, ingenuity, and talent have set them apart as leaders in their craft.  Each night will focus on specific aspects of developing and directing and will cover topics from writing, casting, and eliciting compelling performances from actors.

Film Independent’s Senior Director of Education and International Initiatives, Maria Raquel Bozzi is excited about the series, noting, “Each session of the Directors Close-Up is filled with insightful revelations about the creative process.”

Issa Rae’s session is entitled, “Auteur TV” and her perspective is expected to be especially enticing given her role in front of and behind the camera!

The 2017 Film Independent Directors Close-Up is sponsored by Premier Sponsors the Directors Guild of America, Ovation, Landmark Theatres, and SAGindie.
