Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Beyond the Lights) is currently in negotiations to star in God Particle alongside David Oyelowo.

The sci-fi film will be produced by J.J. Abrams (Star Wars: The force Awakens) and directed by Julius Onah (The Girl Is In Trouble), and will follow a team of astronauts who make a terrifying discovery, which forces them to fight for their lives as they question the very fabric of reality.

Mbatha-Raw is curently in production for Star Wars: Episode VII, another J.J. Abrams Production, and most recently starred as Will Smith’s wife in Concussion.  She will appear next in Free State of Jones, opposite Matthew McConaughey to be released this summer.  Mbatha-Raw is also set to star in Disney’s live-action Beauty and the Beast, and was recently cast in An Untamed State, a Fox Searchlight film to be directed by Gina Prince-Bythewood (Beyond the Lights).

Oyelowo is known for his portrayal of Martin Luther King Jr. in Ava Duvernay’s Selma. He recently finished production on A United Kingdom directed by Amma Asante, and Disney’s Queen of Katwe.  He is currently filming Nash Edgerton’s American Express where he will appear alongside Charlize Theron and Amanda Seyfried.

Variety reports that the film is set to be released on February 27, 2017, and production will begin in the next few months.
