This fall, Sony Pictures is bringing ’90s cult psychological horror, Flatliners, back to life.
Kiersey Clemons (Dope) stars in the film alongside Nina Dobrev (The Vampire Diaries), Ellen Page, Diego Luna, and Keifer Sutherland (24) who pops up in a cameo role. Sutherland appeared in the original film alongside Julia Roberts.
The film follows five medical students, obsessed by the mystery of what lies beyond the confines of life, as they embark on a daring and dangerous experiment. By stopping their hearts for short periods of time, each triggers a near-death experience, giving them a firsthand account of the afterlife. As their experiments become increasingly dangerous, they are each haunted by the sins of their pasts, brought on by the paranormal consequences of trespassing to the other side.
Niels Arden Oplev, the Danish director behind the original Swedish version of The Girl With The Dragon Tattoo, will direct the script by Source Code
Flatliners will be released in theaters September of this year.
Clemons has been making waves with star appeal following her breakout role in Dope. She has also appeared as one of the sorority sisters in Neighbors 2: Sorority Rising and landed the role of Iris West in the Warner Bros. DC Comics-based flick, The Flash. She also has TV credits, appearing in such series as Amazon’s Transparent and CBS’ Extant. She even nabbed a music video credit, appearing in Lady Gaga’s auteur-esque music video for “Til It Happens to You.” Her 2017 seems to be equally as promising as she will also be seen this year on the big screen in The Only Living Boy in New York.
