Looks like more Black Female Superhero stories are coming! Gugu Mbatha-Raw (Beyond the Lights, Concussion, Belle) is set to star in thriller, Fast Color, produced by Jordan Horowitz (La La Land) via Original Headquarters as well as Mickey Liddell and Pete Shilaimon (both, Jackie) via HD Entertainment. Miss Stevens director Julia Hart has joined to direct, based on the screenplay she wrote with Horowitz.

Mbatha-Raw will portray a woman who’s forced to go on the run when her superhuman abilities are discovered. Her only safe space ends up being back home, where she has to reconcile with her abandoned family.

Mbatha-Raw has a slew of promising productions under her belt, including starring opposite Emma Watson in Beauty and the Beast, Paramount’s upcoming Cloverfield movie, Disney’s A Wrinkle in Time (Ava DuVernay).
