For the past 8 years, Essence has gathered Hollywood’s most powerful and celebrated African-American artists and entertainers for the Annual Essence Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon. This annual event will be held on Thursday, February 25th at the Beverly Hill’s Hotel, and will air on Saturday, February 27th at 10pm ET/PT on OWN.

The 2016 Black Women in Hollywood Award will be presented to actress Tracee Ellis Ross (Fierce & Fearless Award), multi-talented producer, director and actress Debbie Allen (Legend Award), and entertainment attorney Nina Shaw (Lincoln Power Award).

The Essence Black Women in Hollywood Luncheon is a chance for the entertainment industry to pay homage to the biggest and brightest African-American women who are who are pushing boundaries, breaking through barriers, and making history in film and television.  This prestigious ceremony gives the women who often get overlooked by mainstream awards, the opportunity to receive the honor that they deserve.  It happens the week of the Oscars, and gives these amazing and powerful women the chance to take the stage and give thanks in an environment filled with the love, support, and recognition that is often times lacking at mainstream award ceremonies.
