Edwina Findley (Get Hard, Middle of Nowhere) in addition to Alicia Sanz (From Dusk Till Dawn), Marqus Clae and Shamier Anderson (Race) have booked recurring roles in the Fox event series from Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood titled Shots Fired.

Shots Fired examines the dangerous aftermath of racially charged shootings where an African American cop kills a white teen in a small town in Tennessee.

Deadline reports that Findley will play Shirlane, a reporter covering the shooting.  Sanz will play Paula, Javier’s new girlfriend who has a volatile relationship with Ashe (played by Sanaa Lathan). Clae is Cory, a 17-year-old tough talker who might know more about the shooting than he lets on. Anderson is Maceo Terry, a pro football player and brother of Preston Terry.

Findley, a Washington DC native, made her television debut on HBO’s The Wire and has been a guest star on everything from Law & Order and One Life to Live to Brothers and Sisters and Treme.  She also appeared in Red Tails, and starred opposite Emayatzy Corinealdi in Ava DuVernay’s critically acclaimed feature film Middle of Nowhere.

Most recently she had a starring role in Get Hard opposite Kevin Hart, and can currently be seen as a series regular on OWN’s If Loving You Is Wrong.

Richard Dreyfuss, Helen Hunt, Sanaa Lathan, Stephan James, Aisha Hinds, and Stephen Moyer are also set to star in the series.

The series is written and executive-produced by Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood.  Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo also will serve as executive producers. Prince-Bythewood will direct.

Shots Fired is sure to be one of the most talked about shows of the year, and will be Prince-Bythewood’s first return to TV since working on shows including episodes of A Different World, Felicity, and Girlfriends.
