According to Deadline, TNT is developing a legal drama inspired by Kym Worthy, the second African American to serve as a county prosecutor in Michigan, executive produced byViola Davis.  Worthy is the chief prosecutor in Wayne County, Michigan and known for being the toughest woman in Detroit.  Debra Martin Chase (Sparkle) will serve as executive producer of the project alongside co-executive producer Ayanna Floyd (Empire) who will also be writing the script.

Worthy started as an assistant prosecutor in Wayne County in 1984. She served in this position for ten years, trying over 800 cases.  Among the cases Worthy had go to trial her conviction rate was over 90%.  In addition to trying over 800 cases, Worthy led the charge to complete testing on over 10,000 untested rape kits that were once forgotten and abandoned in Detroit to provide justice to victims.  The effort has revealed more than 400 serial rapists and pinpointed thousands of suspects.

Davis and her producing partner will executive produce the project through their JuVee Productions, Martin Chase will executive produce through her Martin Chase Prods.

The project was originally set up at ABC Studios during the 2014 – 2015 season; however, ABC is no longer involved in the project.
