Earlier this week, we mentioned that powerhouse producer Debra Martin Chase (Jumping the Broom) received a pilot production commitment at ABC for hot contemporary spy drama project Get Christie Love, based on the 1970s TV movie and series, where she will serve as executive producer.  We are now happy to share the news that she has signed a multi-year first-look deal at Universal Television!  Under the new deal she will develop new projects for network, cable and streaming services via her Martin Chase Productions.

“After 20 years of fan-girling over the work of Debra Martin Chase, nothing gives me greater satisfaction than to woo her to Universal Television,” Universal TV president Pearlena Igbokwe said. “She is a consummate producer who brings a wealth of experience and talent to her work. We feel very lucky.”

Martin Chase is in the process of developing an ABC miniseries alongside Gail Lumet Buckley, daughter of the legendary entertainer Lena Horn, titled The Black Calhouns: From Civil War to Civil Rights with One African American Familyabout six generations of the Buckley family, detailing the experiences of the extraordinary African American family from the beginning of Reconstruction through the civil rights movement.  She is also working on a one-hour scripted dramedy titled White People Problems at Universal Cable Productions and Bravo.  This project was set up prior to the Uni TV deal.
