WATCH: Danielle Brooks Discusses the New Season of ‘OITNB’ and her ‘Color Purple’ Broadway Debut

Tony nominated actress Danielle Brooks (Orange is the New Black), appeared on NBC’s TODAY this morning to talk about her role as the beloved Tasha “Taystee” Jefferson on the Netflix hit series Orange is the New Black (OITNB), and her Broadway debut in the Tony winning musical, The Color Purple.  Check out the interview below!

Brooks graduated from Julliard, and joined the cast of Orange is the New Black in 2013 at the age of 22.  Her character was originally meant to be featured in the show for only two episodes; however, she was written into the rest of the first season and quickly became one of the show’s most popular characters.  In 2013, Brooks was cast in an episode of the HBO series Girls, and also made an appearance on Master of None.
