Tony and Grammy award-winning Cynthia Erivo, is set to perform at the Oscars’ Governors Ball! The ball follows The Academy Awards broadcast and celebrates the winners and nominees.

Erivo is fresh off another major award ceremony performance having recently performed with John Legend during the Grammy’s In Memoriam segment, following her win.

Erivo’s supremely impressive career is skyrocketing.  She made her Broadway debut reprising her starring role as Celie (initially portrayed such in London’s Menier Chocolate Factory) in the critically acclaimed revival of The Color Purple. Her portrayal led to a collection of awards including the Tony Award for Best Performance by an Actress in a Leading Role in a Musical, the Drama Desk Award, Theatre World and Outer Critics Circle Awards, and a Grammy win. She is also an accomplished songwriter, having written the song, “Fly Before You Fall” for Gina Prince-Bythewood’s Beyond the Lights.

As for upcoming works, she will be co-starring opposite Viola Davis in the Steve McQueen film, Widows, and has been tapped to star in an upcoming Harriet Tubman biopic. Cynthia Erivo is an undeniable force and is a great choice to lead the Governors Ball entertainment, and we look forward to seeing more of her!
