Clare-Hope Ashitey (Suspects) has been cast as a series regular alongside Sanaa Lathan (The Best Man Holiday, The Perfect Guy) , Aisha Hinds (Under the Dome, True Blood), Tristian Wilds (The Wire, 90201), DeWanda Wise (The Mentalist), and Stephen James (Race, Selma) in the Fox event series from Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood titled Shots Fired.

Shots Fired examines the dangerous aftermath of racially charged shootings where an African American cop kills a white teen in a small town in Tennessee.

Ashitey is a British actress whose credits include the UK series Suspects and Doctor Foster and biopic Jimi: All Is by My Side.  In Shots Fired, she will play the role of Kerry Beck, the wife of Deputy Joshua Beck, who is struggling to keep her family and life together as the media spotlight bears down on her husband.  Ashitey can be seen next in indie drama The White King.

The series is written and executive-produced by Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood. Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo also will serve as executive producers. Prince-Bythewood will direct.

Shots Fired is sure to be one of the most talked about shows of the year, and will be Prince-Bythewood’s first return to TV since working on shows including episodes of A Different World, Felicity, and Girlfriends.
