Winner of the “Live the Dream” grant at the 2015 IFP Gotham Awards, filmmaker Chanelle Aponte Pearson will make her directorial debut with 195 Lewis.

Lewis is an honest exploration of gender dynamics and identity that revolves around a a Brooklyn queer couple as they test the boundaries of an open relationship.

“When an unexpected houseguest arrives, a black couple must face some hard truths about their ever-evolving polyamorous relationship. In highlighting a dynamic and dialogue often portrayed inaccurately in popular culture, 195 Lewis is a revelatory cultural moment that authentically captures an experience and culture in all its nuance, grit, love, pain, and light.”

The pilot episode first screened at the Blackstar Film Festival in 2014 and had its international premiere at the International Film Festival at Rotterdam earlier this year, and the first five episodes of will premiere at BAMcinématek (Brooklyn, NY) on Wednesday, December 14 at 7:30PM.

Co-written by Pearson, Terence Nance (An Oversimplification of Her Beauty), Rae Leone Allen, and Yaani Supreme, 195 Lewis is produced by MVMT, Allen, Supreme, Pearson and Nance.  The series stars Rae Leone Allen, Sirita Wright, Roxie Johnson, and D. Ajane Carlton.
