Ashleigh Murray (Riverdale) has been cast in MGM’s musical remake Valley Girl! Per Deadline, she joins Chloe Bennet, social media star Logan Paul, Jessie Ennis, Jessica Rothe, and Josh Whitehouse. Helmed by Rachel Lee Goldenberg and written by Amy Lee Talkington (revisions by Marti Noxon), production for Valley Girl is slated to begin in Los Angeles next month. Matt Smith is producing and Cassidy Lange is overseeing the project on behalf of the studio.

Adapted from the 1983 original, Valley Girl follows Julie (Rothe), a sweet-natured San Fernando Valley girl whose world and values are rocked when she falls hard for Randy (Whitehouse), a punk rocker from Hollywood. Murray will portray Loryn, a high-energy, spacey and boy-crazy popular girl.

Murray starred in the Netflix-acquired Sundance hit Deidra & Laney Rob A Train. Previously, Murray worked on the WB’s The Following, and appeared in two episodes of TVLand’s Younger. The actress/singer is currently rockin’ as the front woman of Josie and the Pussycats on CW’s Riverdale. She is repped by Innovative Artists.

Congrats to Ashleigh Murray and we’re sure she’ll be awesome in this upcoming flick!
