Anika Noni Rose (The Quad) has joined the cast of the thriller Assassination Nation!
The thriller follows four teenage girls in a small suburb who become the focus of unwanted, world-wide media attention after their personal information is leaked by an anonymous hacker. Odessa Young and Hari Nef will play the two other teenagers.
According to Variety, “Rose will portray an attractive woman with terrible taste in men, who has an unfortunate reputation in the conservative town of Salem. When the mysterious hacker outs her for her various affairs with the town’s married men, she faces scorn, public ridicule and downright abuse from the outraged citizenry.”
Sam Levinson (Another Happy Day, HBO’s upcoming Wizard of Lies) is helming the thriller from his own screenplay. Foxtail Entertainment co-founders and partners Matthew Malek and Anita Gou, and Phantom Four partners David Goyer and Kevin Turen are all producing.
Rose is a Tony Award winner for her role in Caroline, or Change and also received a Tony nomination for A Raisin In The Sun. She was most recently seen starring BET’s The Quad and will be appearing in the upcoming Warner Brothers film, Everything, Everything. Her TV credits include Roots, Starz’s Power and her feature film credits include Dreamgirls, For Colored Girls and famously voicing the lead for the first Black American princess in Disney’s The Princess and the Frog.
