Angela Bassett has officially joined the cast of Mission: Impossible.  She will star in the action film alongside an all-star cast including Tom Cruise, Henry Cavill, Rebecca Ferguson, and Alec Baldwin.

We don’t have many details on the overall story of this installment; however, sources have shared that Bassett will be playing the role of the C.I.A. director.

Director Christopher McQuarrie is returning for the sixth installment of the franchise, which is set to hit theaters July 27, 2018.

Bassett’s career has spanned well over two decades.  She has starred in classic 90’s films such as Boyz ‘N the Hood, The Jacksons: An American Dream, Malcolm X, How Stella Got Her Groove Back, Waiting to Exhale, What’s Love Got To Do With It, and more.  Most recently she was seen on the big screen in London Has Fallen, and in the Spike Lee adaptation of Lysistrata, Chi-Raq.  Late last year it was also announced that Bassett joined the cast of Marvel’s Black Panther directed by Creed helmer Ryan Coogler, and is currently a regular on the latest installment of Ryan Murphy’s American Horror Story, and will work with the prolific TV producer on the upcoming procedural drama 911.
