First-time feature director Angel Kristi Williams will helm the film Really Love, starring Kofi Siriboe of OWN’s Queen Sugar. Williams also co-wrote the script with Felicia A. Pride.

With a gentrifying Washington a backdrop, the story features aspiring painter Siriboe) who is busy trying to break into the art world when he is swept up into an unexpected relationship.

It’s set to film this summer in Baltimore and Washington, D.C.

Really Love was co-written by Williams and Felicia A. Pride, with the story by Pride and Sandford Grimes. MACRO, Charles D. King’s production company behind the Oscar-nominated film Fences, is the financial backer and producer of the film.

The film’s producers are Mel Jones of Dear White People, King, Kim Roth and Aaliyah Williams, with MACRO’s Poppy Hanks, Latisha Fortune, Grimes, Stephanie Allain, Kim Coleman and Pride serving as executive producers.

Williams’ film Charlotte, won jury awards at Atlanta and Sarasota Film Festivals.  She is also a Film Independent Project Involve Fellow, winner of the Sony Pictures Diversity Fellowship, and recently named one of ten black directors to watch by Paste Magazine.
