MTV has tapped music business veteran Amani Duncan as its new SVP Music! Confirmed via Deadline, she will be responsible for strengthening MTV’s music industry relationships through artist-driven initiatives and campaigns and will work closely with its development teams to create music content.

MTV’s President Chris McCarthy is confident in her abilities noting, “Amani has an incredible track record creating partnerships between artists and brands that allow both to shine and deliver something new for audiences. From the VMAs to Unplugged, giving artists a platform to connect with fans in unique ways is core to the MTV brand, and we’re excited for Amani to help build that legacy.”

Duncan has longevity in the music industry, with nearly two decades of work with influential artists including Jay-Z, Ed Sheeran and Iggy Pop as well as labels including Virgin, Capitol, and Def Jam. She has built and championed partnerships and creative alliances between artists and brands such as Ace Hotels, Burton Snowboards, Champion, Chase, and Southwest Airlines.
