Aisha Hinds (Under the Dome, True Blood) and Tristian Wilds (The Wire, 90201) have been set as series regulars alongside Sanaa Lathan and Stephen James in the Fox event series from Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood titled Shots Fired

Shots Fired examines the dangerous aftermath of racially charged shootings where an African American cop kills a white teen in a small town in Tennessee.

Wilds will play Officer Belk, a young African American sheriff’s deputy in a small town in North Carolina, who after a police shooting is thrust into the national spotlight that pushes his life and young family into chaos. Hinds is Pastor Janae James, a young female activist from the neighborhood who also is thrust upon the national stage when she exposes the hypocrisy in the town. Lathan plays an expert investigator who digs into the shootings, alongside a special prosecutor sent to the town by the Department of Justice.

The series is written and executive-produced by Gina Prince-Bythewood and Reggie Rock Bythewood. Brian Grazer and Francie Calfo also will serve as executive producers. Prince-Bythewood will direct.

Shots Fired is sure to be one of the most talked about shows of the year, and will be Prince-Bythewood’s first return to TV since working on shows including episodes of A Different World, Felicity, and Girlfriends.
