The 16th Annual Women of African Descent Film Festival (WADFF) has now released its call for entries! The film festival, which showcases films to support the artistic development of women filmmakers of African descent, is presented by The Brooklyn Chapter of The Links, Inc. The films are centered around the theme of Linkage: Women, Their Families, Neighborhoods, and the Global Community.

Celebrating its 16th anniversary this year, WADFF’s mission is to provide a platform, offering stipends to participants and seeking industry opportunities that will help expose the filmmakers’ works and further their careers. Far too often in our society, negative images maintain the spotlight, thus WADFF’s priority is to showcase our positive accomplishments, experiences, and gifts to humanity.

WADFF accepts submissions produced, written or directed by a female filmmaker of African descent and the project must have been completed on or after June 1, 2012 with a 1 hr maximum time-length. Submission deadline is Friday, March 24th.

The film festival will take place Saturday, May 6, 2017 at LIU Brooklyn (corner of Flatbush and Dekalb Avenues), Media Arts Department, Spike Lee Reading Room, 10am-6pm.
