The talented Nakia Stephens and her team at Damn Write Originals are bringing Christmas to August!

Written by Stephens and directed by Charite Mattis, their latest short Queer of a Kind is set during the holiday season and revolves around Autumn who is hiding something from her family and finds herself in an interesting dilemma without a solution.  Despite the bind that she finds herself in, her wild-card sister has a plan that will undoubtedly shock the entire family.

Stephens is the founder of a new media screenwriting label based in Atlanta, GA called Damn Write Originals.  The indie screenwriting label serves as a vehicle to drive stories that specifically ascend Women & People of Color, and her team is the creative cohort behind popular projects such as Cream X Coffee, Suga Water, Forced Entry, and more.

In addition to building a budding media powerhouse, Stephens is an award-winning screenwriter/filmmaker who is devoted to telling authentic and purposeful stories.  Her work has been recognized at film festivals across the nation including; American Black Film Festival, Bronze Lens Film Festival, Black Web Fest, Black Woman’s Film Festival and more.
