The 2017 MTV Movie & TV Awards broadcasted this past Sunday and Black women represented, taking home trophies in a few categories!

Taraji P. Henson won Best Hero for her portrayal as real-life historical hero Katherine Johnson in Hidden Figures. Hidden Figures also won the Best Fight Against The System award, for spotlighting discrimination within NASA and overcoming it by pushing boundaries and making history.

Ava DuVernay’s prison industrial complex documentary 13th took home the infamous popcorn statuette prize for Best Documentary.

In addition to DuVernay and Henson, Black-ish, starring Tracee Ellis Ross, won Best American Story, and Beyoncé’s performance with Channing Tatum in Lip Sync Battle won the Trending Award.
